SMS Blast

I am wondering if anyone out there has used SMS (cell phone text messaging) to do blast outreach. Did it work? What did you learn from the experience? Is it worth encouraging other organizers to consider the option? What did you use? UPOC? txtmob?

If you haven't used text messaging but are thinking about it, I'd also like to hear from you. I think this could be a valuable tool but I am trying to listen to that little voice in me that keeps saying "of course you like it. you like computers. no on else likes it and there is a reason for that."

and in addition to wanting to hear experiences, I also want to point you all to the Mobile Active conference that's coming up in September. The conference - or rather convergence is meant to "The goal is to shorten the learning curve and accelerate the use of cell phones as a successful tool in campaigns, human rights efforts and field organizing."

Someone from PTP may attend, and if you're interested in attending, please let us know - I believe that the organizers of the convergence have some money available for scholarships for organizers to attend.
