How do you set up a mss e-mail system for about 1800 names?

this is one of the topics of the session in February, though we'll be picking it up a little in January as well.
The short answer right now is that it depends on what you want to do - is this email system for discussion between participants, or is it one-way where you're sending information to them?
Either way, a listserve would be a good option. There are free ones like Yahoo! Group or Google Groups, or you could get them setup by your web hosting provider (if you have one).
If you're looking for a more complicated solution that interacts with your database, let us know.
